Throughout this course, three topics stood out most to me: segmentation, targeting, and positioning; corporate social responsibility (CSR); and the connection between people, processes, and technology in marketing implementation. These concepts showed me that marketing is much more than advertising. Strong marketing begins with understanding who the customer is, what they value, and how a business can consistently deliver an experience that earns their trust.
Segmentation, targeting, and positioning will help me think more strategically as I continue growing Soapbox Global Laundry and future business ventures. Not every customer has the same needs. A busy parent, a college student, and a commercial client may all need laundry services, but each one values something different, such as convenience, affordability, speed, or reliability. Understanding those differences allows me to create better messaging, service packages, and customer experiences instead of using a one-size-fits-all approach.
CSR was another important topic because consumers increasingly want to support businesses that make a positive impact. In my future career, I want to build businesses that are profitable while also creating opportunities for employees, serving local communities, and operating responsibly. CSR should not simply be a marketing message; it should be reflected in how a company treats people, makes decisions, and invests back into the communities that support it.
Finally, learning about people, processes, and technology reinforced that a marketing strategy is only effective when it can be executed consistently. Employees have to understand the customer experience the business is trying to create, processes must support reliable service, and technology should make things easier for both customers and staff. My future perspective on marketing strategy is that personalization and technology will continue to grow, but businesses that win will still be the ones that make customers feel seen, respected, and valued. The best strategy will combine data and efficiency with genuine human connection.
