The pandemic changed the way I view marketing because it showed me that customers care about more than just price. They want businesses to understand their real-life needs, especially when it comes to convenience, cleanliness, trust, and time. For a laundromat, marketing is no longer just about saying “we have washers and dryers.” It is about showing customers that the business can make their day easier, safer, and more efficient.
In today’s environment, I look for marketing that is honest, practical, and connected to the customer experience. If a laundromat markets wash and fold, pickup and delivery, clean machines, extended hours, or fast turnaround, I expect the actual service to match that message. Customers are busy, and many are balancing work, family, school, and other responsibilities. A strong marketing message should show how the company helps solve those everyday problems.
I also believe customers are looking for a stronger connection with the businesses they support. A laundromat is not just a place to wash clothes; it can become part of the community. Customers want to feel comfortable, respected, and valued when they walk in. Marketing that highlights cleanliness, friendly staff, family convenience, and reliable service can help build trust because it speaks directly to what customers need in today’s environment.
A recent example that connects to this is laundry service advertising that promotes pickup and delivery or app-based laundry care. These ads work because they focus on convenience and time savings. Instead of only promoting machines or prices, they show customers that laundry can be handled without interrupting their schedule. For a laundromat, this type of marketing reflects the shift after the pandemic because it focuses on value, convenience, cleanliness, and connection with the customer.
